My aim is to help you identify your goals, design an exercise program that fits your needs and if required guide you through every workout.

 

My holistic approach to fitness and health will encourage you to have fun, become fitter and instil in you an intrinsic desire to stay healthy.

Who Am I?

I have played numerous sports to a variety of levels and can still just about swing a golf club and hit a shuttlecock.  However, for the last 5 years running and in particular ultra trail running has become my all consuming love.  If i don't get out for a run every day I'm not a happy chappy!!

I also love helping others develop their sporting skills and improving their fitness regimes.  I currently take a small group out each week on local trails as they prepare for an Easter 1/2 marathon.  I have helped runners complete UTMB courses in Chamonix, France and Swiss mountain races.  

​

I'm someone who has been passionate about being active all his life, sometimes doing a bit less but that doesn't matter.

What matters is that I love all forms of physical activity and I want to help you develop this desire and have fun in the process.

Working with WTF Running

The initial consultation is the most vital element of any fitness program.  It is the opportunity for both of us to get to know each other, to decide if you want to undertake this fitness journey and to understand what you want to gain from this collaboration.  A personalised plan is then developed, which is updated each week following further consultation, in order to progress you towards your long term goals.

 

The plan is flexible and can always be adapted to take account of your current work - life responsibilities.  In this way your plan is more likely to lead to success.

How does the coaching work?

The easiest way for us to work together is if you have a smartphone.  I can then send your training plans through on Training Peaks which can be linked to a smart watch.

This allows both of us to then track your training on a daily basis.

If this technology is not available then I will send through a weekly plan, I will ask you to record how each session went and then we can review at the end of the week or if you have any questions you can contact me at the end or in advance of a session. 

Following our initial discussion I will set the session duration based on either time or distance.  As for the intensity of the session I will set an RPE level (Rate of Perceived Exertion) 1 - 10.

It may take a little time for you to be able to grade your efforts accurately but eventually you will know your body well enough to gauge at what level of exertion you are working at.  By using RPE your sessions are based on your current ability and the environment that you are working in, this makes the session specific to you.
